General Class Information
Our small group classes are grouped into 2 categories: Mat & Equipment. All classes are 55 minutes in length.

Mat classes include Just Mat, Mat & More, and 60 Plus. Pilates mat work offers a very intensive core workout, using the body's weight against gravity. Mat classes are appropriate for beginners after taking a Basic Concepts class or a Private session. Mat Classes are small in size (3-10) for safety and optimum benefit.

Equipment classes include Reformer, Tower, and Multi-Apparatus(scheduled periodically). Reformer classes are the only equipment classes recommended for beginners, with a prerequisite of a Get.2.kno.Joe or a single private session.

Tower classes are considered intermediate level work. These classes are limited to two classes per month and are available to those who demonstrate a solid understanding of the Pilates basic concepts and have demonstrated safe technique in a reformer class. Tower Classes are small in size (3-4) for safety and optimum benefit.

TRIAL CLASSES
Trial classes are intended to give those with a Pilates or movement background the opportunity to sample a full, 55 minute class at a low cost. Trial classes allow you to make an informed decision as to whether the class style and pace are right for you, before investing in a class package.

Class Registration
All classes at ABSolute Pilates are multi-skill level sessions that operate on a continuous registration basis. We currently offer class packages, not class sessions. All class schedules will be available on the web site. Anyone without internet access can obtain a copy of our schedule at our studio or by mail. Call us at 393-9611.

We try to offer our clients flexibility with scheduling, but continue to encourage regular participation so that everyone can achieve his or her personal fitness goals.

For people new to Pilates, or new to the ABSolute Pilates Studio, it is strongly recommended that you attend a personal training session to learn or review the basic Pilates principles, since the work is non-traditional, subtle and requires feedback from a skilled instructor for proper alignment. Please see our Getting Started information below.

Beginners may then continue with a program – personal training or small group classes – after discussing his or her readiness and appropriate options for progressing toward the original fitness goals.

*ABSolute Pilates Class Descriptions:
All classes, except Basic Concepts, are 55 minutes in length. All equipment except towels and water bottles are provided. Bottled water is available for purchase.

60 Plus Pilates -Designed to assist the older adult with strengthening, flexibility and balance.  The class offers an appropriate challenge for  activity level of the participants. The pace is moderate with easy-to-follow instruction.

*BALANCE PILATES -Scheduled periodically throughout the year, a challenging combination of standing Pilates exercises and Pilates-based balance work using multiple props to strengthen the core and improve dynamic balance.

BASIC CONCEPTS - A 30 minute introduction to the Pilates concepts and the fundamental exercises. This is a "crash course" best suited for those with prior mindful movement experience.

BEGINNER LEVEL CLASS - Available only with Beginner Class Package, 3 classes totaling 2 hours of instruction. These classes will take the Pilates novice beyond the "Basic Concepts" and set a strong foundation for small group class work. See details of package below.

*FIT & ON THE BALL - Scheduled periodically throughout the year, this class is challenging and especially fun! Exercises performed on the stability ball will take your core strength to a higher level. All skill levels will enjoy.

Get.2.kno.Joe - An introductory 3-pack of 55-minute Pilates Personal Training sessions. Spend valuable one-on-one training time with a certified Pilates Instructor and work toward achieving your fitness goals through the Pilates Training Method. This offer is a one-time-only offer and a great way to get to know Joseph Pilates' technique for increasing core strength and improving posture and flexibility without stressing the joints in the extremities and spine. By appointment only.

JUST MAT - Just you and your mat! Experience contemporary Pilates on the mat with no props. Great for beginners! Non-beginners can focus on form! Props are added occasionally.

MAT & MORE - Fast-paced, focused workout that challenges core control using circle, band, rollers and fit ball. Although the work is primarily intermediate level, beginners can attend and will be guided through modifications as needed.

*MAT: INSTRUCTOR'S CHOICE- MAT & MORE, FIT & ON THE BALL, BALANCE PILATES or JUST MAT – the class instructor chooses! Always a surprise! This class is scheduled periodically throughout the year.

*MULTI-APPARATUS - Pilates circuit training on Tower, Reformer & Combo Chair. Intense, intermediate workout! Prior experience on Tower, Reformer and Chair are required. This class is scheduled periodically throughout the year.

*PeeWee Pilates - Summer months only. Kids, ages 4 to 10 will enjoy alignment and core activities designed as imagery and play. This is a great way to introduce the concepts of optimal posture for a healthy future.

REFORMER I -A Total body workout on a table with gliding platform against spring resistance. Experience varying degrees of challenge to your core muscles while adding variety and flexibility training to your exercise regimen.

TOWER I -2 classes scheduled per month. Exercises performed on a high mat using spring resistance from a wall unit to challenge your trunk, buttock, leg strength & flexibility. Not for beginners. Reformer experience required.

Getting Started at the ABSolute Pilates Studio

There are several ways to start your Pilates program and many factors to consider as you plan your first session:
  •   What are your personal goals?
  •   Do you have any significant medical concerns?
  •   Do you have any postural concerns?
  •   Do you have any Pilates experience?
  •   Do you have other exercise/movement experience? (dance, yoga, athletics)
  •   Are you “body-aware” -- do you learn body movement patterns easily?
  •   Do you prefer exercising in small groups or privately?
  •   How much time are you able to invest?
  •   What is your budget?

    After you have reviewed the above questions, you can consider the following options for beginning your program:

    Option#1
    Recommended for the individual with medical or postural concerns, as well as those who may need extra time and individualized attention for learning new information. No Pilates experience required. Also a great choice for those looking for individualized guided movement with rapid results. This is the most effective option.

    Start with a Get.2.kno.Joe introductory 3-pack of private sessions. You will work one-on-one with a certified instructor for three 55-minute sessions. Your sessions can be scheduled once a week for three consecutive weeks, or more frequently if you prefer. You will learn the basic concepts and principles of the Pilates Method and utilize the remainder of the time to work toward your personal goals. When your sessions are completed, you and your instructor can discuss your progress and determine how you would like to proceed with your program.

    Option #2
    Recommended for the healthy individual who has limited exercise or movement background, requires extra time for learning new information and would like to minimize the cost and time investment.

    Attend a Single Private session for 55-minutes of one-on-one time with a certified instructor. The session will include the basic concepts, principles of Pilates and fundamental exercises. The remainder of the time can be spent on mat exercise or equipment, depending on your personal goals. This time can also be utilized to introduce you to the different large apparatus work and mat work, so that you can determine - with the instructor’s input - how to proceed with classes.

    Option #3
    Recommended for healthy individuals with limited exercise or movement background. The Beginner Class Package is an economical way to work with an instructor for 2 studio hours prior to entering a small group class. It is also designed to accommodate up to eight friends at a decreased cost per person. Unlike option #4, below, these sessions take you beyond the basics and fundamentals of Pilates and introduce you to the small group class exercises and pace.

    Schedule a Basic Concepts Class for instruction of the principals of Pilates, followed by two 45-minute beginner level classes on either MAT or REFORMER. All classes are scheduled by appointment. For maximum benefit, plan to attend all three classes in a 2-week period.

    Option #4
    Recommended for the healthy individual with an exercise or movement background. No Pilates experience required. Also a great review for those with past Pilates experience looking to return to mat or equipment classes. This is the most economical option.

    Schedule a Basic Concepts Class with one of our instructors and learn the principles of Pilates in an abbreviated 30-minute session. You will learn the verbal cues and the fundamental exercises that will allow you to enter a small group class with confidence. It may be to your advantage to schedule this class immediately before a mat class to insure good information retention and follow through for maximum benefit.

    • If you need to cancel a scheduled session at the studio, we ask that you notify us 24 hours prior to your appointment. If you cancel less than 24 hours prior, there will be a charge of:

              50% of your private or semi-private session fee
              100% of your small group class fee


    • If you cancel 3 hours or less prior to your session, for any reason including illness, there will be a charge of:

              100% of your session


    • If you do not notify us, and you do not show up for your session, there will be a charge of:

              100% of the session fee


    • We allow a 30 minute waiting period for our instructors. If you are unable to arrive within a 30 minute period from the onset of your scheduled appointment, we will consider this a "No call ~ No show" and there will be a charge of:

              100% of the session fee


    • In the event that you arrive late for your session, please be aware that we do not extend sessions to accommodate for this missed portion of your appointment.


    • After an appointment time is cancelled, that time slot will become available to other clients. If you have a scheduled appointment and anticipate a conflict, we recommend that you cancel according to the 24 hour cancellation policy, above, to avoid any late fees. You are then welcome to call us and reclaim your original appointment, if it is available, or reschedule for another time.

    Coupons
    -When using coupons, clients must present the coupon at the time of purchase in order to receive a discount. Coupons are valid for Pilates services only unless otherwise indicated. Percentage discounts are for full priced services only. Private, semi-private, and class packages are already discounted and may not be combined with any other percentage discounts.

    Birthday Coupons
    - Birthday coupons are valid only during the birthday month. These coupons are for all Pilates services, including packages. Birthday coupons are not valid on retail items.

    Monthly Specials
    - Monthly specials are valid only during the month of the special. If a client needs to make a purchase at the end of the previous month, they may purchase necessary services to finish the month, then purchase discounted services during the month of the special.

    Special offers are not to be used in combination with any other specials or discounts. Special offers are limited to one discount per person, per month unless otherwise indicated. We sincerely appreciate your continual support of the Absolute Pilates studio.

    In the event of bad weather and unsafe driving conditions, ABSolute Pilates may need to delay the start of business or close the studio for a period of time. You may call the studio phone at 393-9611 after 6:45 AM on inclement weather mornings and the recorded message will inform you of any changes in the schedule.

    If bad weather conditions arise after 6:45 AM or persist throughout the day, the studio voice message will be updated accordingly to keep you informed of our schedule changes.

    All sessions that are cancelled due to inclement weather may be rescheduled. Missed classes may be rescheduled in the regular weekly class schedule.

    We apologize, in advance, for any inconvenience - however - safety of our clients and our instructors is a priority.

    WHAT>> In an attempt to minimize low-enrollment class cancellations, ABSolute Pilates has devised the following plan to meet the clients’ and the studio’s needs:

    MAT CLASSES
    Minimum number to hold a class is 3.
  • If only 2 people have signed-up for the class, they will have the option to substitute a reformer class at the cost of two mat classes from their class card.
  • If only 1 has signed up, he/she will have the option to do a private session at the cost of three mat classes from his/her class card.
  • If you are one of two people from a mat class that is offered the above reformer option and the second person declines, you will then have the opportunity to substitute a private session at the cost of three mat classes from your class card.
    EQUIPMENT CLASSES
    Minimum number to hold a class is 2.
  • If only 1 person has signed up for the class, he/she will have the option to substitute a private session at the cost of two equipment classes from his/her class card.
    HOW>>The studio will notify you in the event that there is a low-enrollment situation and clarify your options, so that you can plan to proceed with your scheduled workout. There is no obligation. You may decline the offer without consequence.
  • For morning and noontime classes, we will do our best to notify you the evening or day before class.
  • For evening classes, we will do our best to notify you by 3:00 pm.
    WIN-WIN>>This plan will allow you to count on ABSolute Pilates for the workout that you have scheduled into your busy day AND, perhaps, experience a different type of Pilates workout, at a fraction of the original cost. This plan also helps our studio meet its costs for group class time.
    We hope that you will find this policy helpful in your ongoing pursuit of physical fitness.

    If you wish to start a Pilates program following a condition or injury that has been treated by a physician and / or a physical therapist under a physician's referral, you will need to have your doctor sign our medical release form before getting started.

    The medical release also applies to our current clients who have had a significant change in medical condition, surgery in the past six months, or have recently become pregnant.

    Please contact the studio to request a medical release form be sent to your treating physician.

    The policy has been put in place to keep our clients safe as they strive to meet their personal goals of health and wellness through the Pilates method.
